Pressure Ulcers and Bed Sore Negligence
Pressure ulcers develop when residents are not repositioned regularly. Poor blood flow leads to skin breakdown, deep wounds, and infection.
Four stages: Stage 1 (redness, skin intact) → Stage 2 (partial-thickness loss) → Stage 3 and Stage 4 (full-thickness loss; may expose tissue or bone). Stage 3 and Stage 4 ulcers are often strong evidence of neglect.
